Civic Service in Wake of Balloon Tragedy
You are invited to attend a civic service to enable the Carterton community to move on from the balloon tragedy and to pay tribute to those who assisted in the wake of the crash.
The service is being held at Carterton Events Centre, Holloway Street, Carterton, on Sunday 4 March at 2pm. Doors open at 1pm.

Assistant Librarian/Library Assistant Required
The Carterton Events Centre is a multi-purpose community building incorporating a full restoration and extension of New Zealand’s oldest working public library, and a new town hall/auditorium able to host performing arts, cultural events and activities, exhibitions, conferences and social events.
We are looking for a part-time (20 hours per week) enthusiastic person to join the library staff. Responsibilities will include customer service, book issuing and general library duties.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate an ability to work as part of a team, accuracy in recording information, good communications skills and an ability to work under pressure.
If you are friendly and outgoing, have some library experience and a current driver’s licence, this job could be for you.

Carterton & Districts Returned & Services Memorial Trust Grant
Applications for the Carterton and Districts Returned and Services Memorial Trust tertiary grants are invited from residents of the Carterton district who require assistance to meet expenses related to their tertiary education.  Direct descendants of veterans and servicemen will be given preference.

SPARC Rural Travel Fund Grant
The SPARC Rural Travel Fund is currently available for sports clubs and school teams located in the Carterton District with young people aged between 5 and 19 years who require subsidies to assist with transport expenses to local sporting competitions.  Funding is not available for regional or national events.  Applications close Friday 24 February 2012.

Charles Rooking Carter Recognition Awards
The Carterton District Council would like to publicly recognise community volunteers who have provided outstanding voluntary service to the community and also to organisations, businesses and people who have achieved outstanding national or international success in their field of endeavour.
The Carterton District Council invites nominations for its annual awards for voluntary community service and achievement.  The awards have been split into two categories as follows:

Annual Report 2010/11
The Carterton District Council’s Annual Report for the year ending 30 June 2011 was adopted by Council on 26 October 2011.  The Report summarises Council’s activities and financial results for the past year and also gives an update on the key matters that were highlighted in the 2009 Long Term Council Community Plan.

Carterton Refuse and Recycling Kerbside Collection
All Kerbside Refuse and Recycling Collections on a Statutory Holiday will be carried out on the normal Monday (unless Council and Earthcare advise otherwise)
So please in future put your Bags and Recycling out on the normal day.
Collections on Labour Day Monday will be completed on Monday (not Tuesday)

Proposed waste management plan
Councils are required by legislation to have a Waste Management and Minimisation Plan for solid waste in place before July 2012. The Carterton District Council has prepared a Proposed Waste Management Plan and this is now available for public consultation before it is finalised. Please click here for more information.

Wairarapa Governance
All Councils in the Wellington Region have agreed that by the end of June 2011 each of the respective Councils would conduct a consultation process with their communities, inviting written submissions commenting on the scope, options and structures set out in the Price Waterhouse Coopers review of governance in the Wellington Region.
