A Walking and Cycling Strategy for Carterton July 2011

“Almost all of us walk every day. It helps the town’s prosperity, helps protect against crime, helps build a community as we meet each other, and is good for our health and the environment.
So is cycling. We don’t all ride bikes, but most journeys are within most people’s ‘easy cycling distance’. The more we cycle, the more we pick up those road safety skills which keep us safe. And more people walking or cycling mean fewer cars on the roads.”

Former Mayor Ron Mark after the Mayoral Challenge Ride, National Bike Wise Month, 2011.
