Waingawa Structure Plan

Carterton District Council is in the process of developing a "revised" Structure Plan for the Waingawa industrial area. An initial Structure Plan was developed as part of the Proposed Wairarapa Combined District Plan in 2006, and feedback on this initial Structure Plan highlighted the need to develop a more comprehensive and detailed Structure Plan.

Further investigations have been undertaken evaluating the options for further industrial development at Waingawa, particularly the roading and infrastructure requirements. A draft report has been prepared that summarises the preliminary findings and outlines a range of recommendations. Below the draft report and appendices can be viewed and downloaded.

Waingawa Structure Plan Main Report
Appendix 1 ecological report
Appendix 2 infrastructure cost
Appendix 3 design guidelines
Appendix 4 property valuation
Appendix 5 drawings

An open evening  was held in the Council Chambers at 7.00pm on Tuesday 17th February 2009 to present the finding and revised Structure Plan, and provided an opportunity to ask questions. Written comments can be sent to Council by 4th March 2009. All feedback received will be considered by Council in finalising its investigations.

A Plan Change to the Combined Wairarapa District Plan will be prepared to incorporate the revised Structure Plan into the District Plan, as well as any changes needed to the rules and other provisions. This Plan Change will then be publicly notified, and it will be open to submissions from any interested person or organisation. At this stage, it is anticipated that a plan change will be notified in the second quarter of 2009.
