The project work is carried out by environmental and planning firm Boffa Miskell, who with the representatives from the four Councils, Federated Farmers, Ngati Kahungunu and Rangitaane of Wairarapa form the steering group for this project. ? For more information please contact Scott Ihaka, Policy Advisor at Greater Wellington Regional Council: 06 3700 5628 or . ? The primary objectives of the study are to describe the Wairarapa landscape and to identify the special landscapes. ? ? What are landscapes? Landscapes are more than just scenic views; they are the expression of environmental processes and human activity. Landscapes are an important part of expressing a district?s ?identity?. The way we each perceive a landscape depends on the associations we hold with it. A wide range of factors or attributes make up any landscape including, natural science, aesthetic values, whether the values are shared and recognized by the community, values to Tangata Whenua and historical associations.
