Senior Planner Carterton District Council

Reporting to the Planning and Regulatory Manager the Senior Planner will provide technical leadership while processing resource consent applications. The successful candidate will provide advice to the public, to the regulatory team, as well as elected officials. A key contribution will be to the review of the Council’s District Plan when required.
You will assist with the administration of the Council’s District Plan including the processing of resource consent applications and drafting of decisions, including subdivisions and prepare reports on particular planning issues or projects as directed.
You will lead working parties, stakeholder groups and consultation in accordance with the Resource Management Act and Council requirements and will prepare and present evidence for Council and Environment Court hearings.
In addition you will monitor compliance with resource consents, undertake the role of Enquiries Planner as required and ensure that accurate and up to date records are maintained in relation to responsibilities.
You will also assist in implementing the necessary functions required to ensure that the monitoring and enforcement requirements of the Resource Management Act are met and provide advice and guidance to other planning staff. You will implement and continually improve service delivery policies, processes and systems in order to provide effective, efficient and seamless resource consenting activities.
Of course you will have highly developed written and oral communication skills and an ability to communicate with a wide variety of groups and individuals. Knowing your way around a computer is a must.
