Consultation
Landowner, community, and stakeholder consultation is a critical part of the evaluation stage of this study. Two rounds of consultation are planned, one to identify the community values associated with any ?special? landscapes and then to map them, and the second, to identify and verify the extent of important Landscapes; or the ?lines on the maps? stage.

Consultation will involve meetings and workshops with key stakeholder interest group representatives such as landowners and iwi, and also several community meetings or workshops held in different parts of the Wairarapa, which will be open to the public.

First round of consultation
During May an initial round of public consultation meetings were held ?in Masterton, Greytown and Martinborough. The objective of these meetings was to introduce the Wairarapa Landscape Study and find out which landscapes participants considered special and why. There was a good turnout at all the meetings, but we realise that some people may have been unable to attend, they may still wish to share their thoughts. As part of each consultation meeting, participants were invited to identify their five most favourite landscapes in the Wairarapa, to rank these and provide a reason why they consider them to be special.

If you wish to share your ?favourite places? we invite you to complete the form. If you attended the public consultation meeting but would like to share some additional thoughts you may not have had subsequent to the public meetings, we also welcome your feedback via the email link below.

A fact sheet has been prepared to provide additional information about the study, the landscape, and the community consultation process. A pdf of the fact sheet can be downloaded here. Hard copies are also available from either Masterton, Carterton, and South Wairarapa District Councils or the Greater Wellington Regional Council.
